An artist left 15,000 coins on the ground, and people’s reactions were hilarious

How many times have we dreamed of finding a bunch of money lying on the ground just waiting on us to collect it? Well for a few unsuspecting people in London, that unlikely scenario happened IRL. As Bored Panda reports, an artist left 15,000 coins on the ground and documented people’s hilarious reactions to the find.

Instead of diving right in and imitating Scrooge McDuck’s money swim in the unattended pile of coins, most of the passersby seemed kind of hesitant when they spotted the loot. Maybe they were considering if they were legally allowed to keep the money or perhaps they were simply stunned at the sight of a huge mound of money sitting out in the open.

We’re not sure how we would react to seeing 15,000 coins on the ground, but these people had the oddest responses to Jamahl McMurran and artist Lana Mesic’s social experiment.

The Airbnb host and his guest, a photographer who had the coins from a previous art installation, snapped before and after pics of random people who spotted the money, which adds up to around $450 US.

"So my Airbnb guest and I decided to place 15000 2p coins on the canal and record what would happen…. #coinsbythecanal," McMurran tweeted.

Some people behaved in a totally predictable manner. In other words, they took selfies with the coins and played in them.

Meanwhile, one of the observers stopped, scooped up a bit of change and kept it moving.

Then the fun ended when these guys decided to make off with the remaining money.

Ah, well. It was fun while it lasted, which was way longer than we thought it would.
