This “Arrow” star just absolutely crushed the “American Ninja Warrior” course
Raising money for charity while being a total badass? Yep. Stephen Amell did that. Amell, of Arrow fame, finally got his wish and took on the American Ninja Warrior obstacle course last Thursday night. And we couldn’t love him more for it.
In honor of the charity Red Nose Day, Amell flew, warped, and climbed his way to the top.
Red Nose Day launched in the United States in 2015. Created by Comic Relief Inc., the annual day is dedicated to ending child poverty. Besides seeing our favorite celebs wear red clown noses and reunite on screen, there are many ways to raise money and awareness for Red Nose Day. And that includes showing off your impressive climbing and jumping skills.
After competing in six obstacles including the Fly Wheels, Battering Ram, and Warped Wall, Amell advanced to the next course to take on the Salmon Ladder. The American Ninja Warrior vet Kacy Catanzaro coached Amell – and unlike many other famous contestants – never had to step in to help out.
“His form is just tip-top,” Catanzaro said of Amell. And yeah, we can see that in his many impressive exercise videos.
Amell explained that the Salmon Ladder was his favorite.
He said, "It's obviously such an iconic piece of American Ninja Warrior that the producers of the show and my show have been basically doing a dance for the past several years trying to figure out when and if I'd be available to do it."
And he did it well.
When all was said and done, Amell ended up raising $35,000 for charity in honor of Red Nose Day. A real superhero!
