Feeling inspired to get sh*t done? You can thank Aries season for that boss energy

Don’t be surprised if you feel a bit more pep in your step on March 20th. That’s because we are leaving the dreamy and emotional (and, let’s be honest, deep AF) season of Pisces and entering the ambitious and assertive land of Aries. During Aries season, we are enthusiastic and eager to get shit done. While we’re currently in the midst of Mercury Retrograde (which finally wraps up on the 26th), the intensity of the Ram will help us chart our course and get the ball rolling on the projects that we’ve had to place on the back burner for the last few weeks. Yes, things are starting to heat up.

And it’s no coincidence that Aries is a fire sign. Aries is exactly what you think: fiery and ferocious. They get things started in big, bold ways. During this phase, we won’t take the word “no” very well, and we will continue to push for our ideas no matter what. Because, at her best, Aries is a brazen leader. As a cardinal sign, she knows how to take control and initiate. As the first sign of the zodiac, she loves being first in line. She is dominant and larger-than-life as she takes the reins and gallops toward her wildest dreams.

But, at her worst, Aries is selfish. She can be tunnel-visioned as she seeks to achieve her goals. As a result, the Ram can be callous and aggressive, looking to get what she wants at all costs. This is a good time to look at what we want for ourselves and see how we might be able to include others in our plans. Collaboration as well as compromise can go a long way, especially if it means we’re able to to move toward what we ultimately want. Being too headstrong could backfire on us, leaving us with nothing but a bruised ego, hurt feelings, and damaged friendships. Thinking before we speak and allowing ourselves to be directed and coached will help us with our hubris, and will improve our connections during this time.

The best thing about Aries is that she is never down for long. Even if we encounter a few setbacks during this time, we are eager to go out there and try again. We will have little shame as we move toward our desires, because we wholeheartedly believe in our visions. Aries is the embodiment of “try, try again.” However, we must refrain from being too impulsive—a classic Ram trademark—as we risk biting off more than we can chew or leaping before we look at the big picture. We are more impatient right now because we just want to get it done already. But that only leaves room for error and possible miscommunication.

During this phase, it’s important to take the time to weigh pros with cons, being clear with what we want and coming up with some sort of game plan before moving full-steam ahead. This goes for all aspects of our lives, including our relationships and our career. Easy does it can work just as well as fast and hard—if you know what I mean. Yes, your ego will probably push back when you want to hold off. Another classic Aries trademark move. Don’t be afraid to tell it to be quiet. You want to consider the long game, not just short-term gains, when it comes to what you want.

While it’s definitely more than okay to be excited about exploring new opportunities and adventures, we need to remember that everything will happen in the right time. Make sure you’re not putting the cart before the horse. It’s okay to slow your roll even if the vibe is intense right now. Rushing relationships, projects, and/or promotions doesn’t usually work out in the end. By trusting in our abilities and our visions, but also with the belief that we can slowly but surely reach where we want to go if need be, we can use the confidence and brilliance of Aries to our best advantage. Remember: life’s a marathon, bbs, not a sprint.
