Ariel Winter just dropped an intense message about online bullying and you have to read it

We love few things more than celebs who use their platforms for good, and Ariel Winter just posted an extremely important message about online bullying on Instagram. We’re sending her serious love right now.

Ariel Winter sees mean comments as a learning opportunity.

“Every time someone bullies me online,” she wrote, “it gives me a chance to re-emphasize to my fans, and even to myself, how important self-acceptance is. Those who say such harsh things on my Instagram, thank you for this opportunity – but the question I ask myself every time I read the mean comments is if this is how you talk to a stranger online, I can online imagine how cruelly you speak to yourself.”

“Stop the hate,” she continued. “Accept all that you are and know that your flaws are what make you the PERFECT you. I love my fans and I love my bullies for what they truly NEED is love. Take the high road, there is less traffic. XO”

Like, hello, mic drop.

We have to talk about cyberbullying because it’s *so* common.

According to the i-SAFE foundation, more than 50% of teens have been bullied online, and the same amount has bullied someone else. More than 1 in 3 young people have experienced cyberthreats online, and over 25% of teens have been bullied repeatedly through their cell phones or online.

And it’s not just teens. Women at a high risk for cyberbullying, with us dealing with the bulk of harassment on social media. A recent Pew research study says 25% of women have been sexually harassed online and 26% have been cyberstalked, so it’s SO important that we keep the dialogue about online bullying going.

Thanks for taking the high road, Ariel Winter!
