Ariana Grande’s purple lipstick is giving us royal jealousy

If there’s anything we like more than lipstick, it’s lipstick with a charitable cause. Earlier this year, Ariana Grande collaborated with MAC Cosmetics on a Viva Glam collection — debuting a dark, almost-black berry color and a shimmery pink that we swooned over. As the icing on the cake, proceeds from the sales of these Ariana-approved shades went to the MAC AIDS Fund, giving us a philanthropic reason to feel good about our makeup-buying habit.

But this fall, Ariana’s coming back with two more shades and we quite possibly love this one more than the last. The lipstick is an almost neon orchid hue ($17), and the gloss is a glittery neutral mauve ($16), meant to be worn together or separately.

Purple lipstick is a bold move, no doubt. According to our pals at Bustle, the shade can be pulled off by anyone provided you’re picking the right type of purple for your skin. Cool-toned people should opt for a blue-tinged purple, while warmer skin tones do best with a redder purple shade. Metallic shades are great for darker skin, while fairer complexions might lean toward berry or lavender. So there’s really no one left out of the purple lipstick trend, and we should celebrate our monochrome rainbow!

We couldn’t be more excited about this new hues, as they come at a time when we’re feeling a little bit of lipstick fatigue after rocking matte brown and neutral pouts à la Kylie Jenner. The only bad thing? Ariana’s new shades won’t be available until September 8, so you’ll just have to wait a little bit longer for your crazy-cool vivid orchid lip.
