Ariana Grande’s bittersweet message to her “Hairspray” family is making us cry happy tears
It’s almost the end of the year, and some good things are sadly coming to an end. Like the awe-inspiring Hairspray: Live, which aired on NBC earlier this week. And in our humble opinions, it was epic.
And Ariana Grande wrote a sweet goodbye message to the cast and crew, which is making us feel things deep inside.
We were thrilled when she joined the cast as Penny Pingleton (even though her role should have included major solos…if only we were in charge). Now that it’s over, she’s gonna seriously miss her musical family, which included the likes of Kristen Chenoweth, Ricki Lake, Jennifer Hudson, and more.
"I don't know where to start. crying so much today. my heart is with hairspray. my heart is in Baltimore with penny lou pingleton and seaweed and tracy and Mr. & Mrs. Turnblad the motormouth kids and the nicest kids. such a bittersweet feeling."
Awwwwww. This is making US cry! She went on to express how grateful she is to have played one of her “favorite roles in the world,” met these “incredibly beautiful people,” and sing the songs that she “grew up singing religiously in the car every day in the way to school.” We are super happy she got to do these things, too.
Here she is with co-star Jennifer Hudson, going in for the big squeeze.
"thank you for the millions of hugs and laughs and talks. you are such a gift. i love you so so so so much and it was an honor to sing with you."
Even though this is a sad time, we must wipe our tears and look to the future, which will inevitably include more musicals!
We already know that Anastasia is coming to Broadway in 2017, and Frozen will be making its Broadway debut in 2018. It’s gonna be A-OK!
As for Grande, she’s just been nominated for a Grammy, so we’ll be seeing plenty more of her as well.
Love you, Ariana. Keep your chin up…more great things ahead!
