There are so many epic cameos in Ariana Grande’s Mean Girls-inspired “Thank U, Next” video teaser
Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” music video is inching closer to its release, and the pop princess just dropped a nostalgia-filled teaser that is honestly so fetch. Attentive fans know that the music video will pay homage to a number of iconic rom-coms, including Legally Blonde, Bring It On, and 13 Going on 30—but the first video teaser zeroed in on the 2004 Tina Fey classic Mean Girls.
The short clip recreates a classic montage from early in the movie when students around school share gossip about queen bee Regina George. However, in this version, the students are sharing rumors they’ve heard about Grande.
The video has an all-star cast, too, with many blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameos. It opens on a pregnant Colleen Ballinger (she heard Ari was pregnant, and so she got pregnant), and also includes some familiar faces from the original Mean Girls, like Jonathan Bennett (aka Aaron Samuels) and the “One time, she punched me in the face” girl, Stefanie Drummond.
Youtuber Gabi DeMartino and Troye Sivan also appear in the video. Sivan even pokes fun at that misheard “Aubrey” lyric in “Thank U, Next.”
"I heard she's a lesbian now and dating some chick called Aubrey," he deadpans. "It's f-king sick."
The teaser says that the full-length video is “coming soon,” and we can’t even wait.
