Ariana Grande and John Legend might have teamed up for a “Beauty and the Beast” duet

As if we weren’t already excited enough for the movie itself, it’s been teased that Ariana Grande and John Legend have teamed up for the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack and we’re SO desperate to hear what they’ve been working on.

Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty on the Beast hits theaters on March 17th (EEEEEEEEK!!!), and we’ve recently got more of a taster of what we can expect from the film from various teaser trailers that have been dropping. Not only have we seen the Beast flirting with Belle in one trailer, but we also got look at some of the film’s musical elements in the shape of Emma Watson belting out Belle’s theme, too.

Well, it seems that Ariana Grande and John Legend might have teamed up for a duet for the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack.

Speculation began after Ariana uploaded a picture of herself in the recording studio. Not that unusual, right? She is a singer after all. However, the “Into You” singer, who released her third album Dangerous Woman last year, also tagged John Legend AND the official Instagram account for the film in the picture, too. What’s more, she added a rather vague caption…a wilting rose.

The picture was then regrammed by the official Beauty and the Beast Instagram account, seemingly confirming that Ariana and John had indeed recorded a duet for the film’s soundtrack.

Of course, we’re pretty curious (okay, that’s an understatement) to figure out what song the pair have recorded for the film. However, we agree with speculation that the pair might have recorded a version of “Tale As Old As Time,” which featured on the credits of the original movie and was sung by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson.

Omg, we can totally imagine Ariana Grande and John Legend absolutely KILLING a version of this song together, can’t you? Especially if Ariana busts out her Celine Dion impression.

In fact, it’s not unusual for a popstar to record a version of a major Disney film song, either. Indeed, we’ve seen the likes of Demi Lovato record “Let It Go” from Frozen, and more recently Alessia Cara recorded the theme from Moana. Also, who could forget the moment Christina Aguilera absolutely SLAYED her rendition of “Reflection” from Mulan.

According to Playbill, the soundtrack for the upcoming live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, which stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, will be released the same day as the film’s release, March 17th. We just know we’re going to be listening to it for the rest of the year.
