Ariana Grande honored Mac Miller at the opening night of her “Sweetener” world tour in the most perfect way

The Sweetener World Tour is off to an incredibly sweet start. Last night, March 18th, Ariana Grande played her first show in Albany and greeted guests with a beautiful tribute to Mac Miller. According to fans who were at the show, Grande played select tunes by her ex—who passed away after an accidental overdose on September 7th, 2018—before the show opened.

"Aaaaand they're playing Mac Miller at the Ariana Grande concert," one fan tweeted during last night's concert. "Not emotional no no no not at all."

Another concert goer added that Grande was playing Mac Miller’s “Dang!” featuring Anderson .Paak.

We’re not too surprised that Grande would do something special to honor Miller during her current tour. Since his death, the singer has gotten a tribute tattoo in his honor that reads “Myron” (the name of Miller’s beloved dog). She also reportedly sampled some of Miller’s work in her Sweetener song “Ghostin’.”

And in terms of the actual show, it seems as though Grande more than delivered. Meaning fans with tickets in other cities have a lot to look forward to. false
