Ariana Grande explains why she didn’t cancel her tour after the Manchester bombing
It’s been months since the tragic bombing that took place in Manchester, England, but the effects of the horrific incident still linger. The bombing occurred at an Ariana Grande concert: As fans readied themselves to exit the venue they were greeted by loud explosions. Now, Grande is opening up about the Manchester bombing, her tour, and why she decided not to cancel her shows after the terror attack that left 22 people dead and at least 59 injured.
After the attack, the singer postponed a few events of her Dangerous Woman tour and returned home to the U.S. A few weeks later, Grande organized the One Love Manchester concert to raise money for the victims of the bombing. She enlisted the help of her famous friends — Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Coldplay, and Justin Bieber all joined Grande during the mega-concert in the U.K.
During an incredibly emotional interview with Coveteur, Grande said even though she had to postpone her tour, canceling the entire thing was never something she even considered.
“Calling it off and going home was not an option, she said. “The message of the show was too important. For the crew and everyone involved, it’s become more than just a show for us. We are really grateful to be here and really grateful for this show.
The songbird resumed her tour in June this year. And on the day of her first show back, Grande posted a picture of the Eiffel Tower on her IG account along with a sweet message.
The city of Manchester was so moved by Grande’s gestures of love and kindness that they named her their first honorary citizen.
It’s great to see that Ariana didn’t let this hateful act deter her from doing what she was so obviously born to, and that she was able to turn her grief into goodness and give back to those affected.
