Ariana Grande’s new perfume smells like donuts, which seems about right

Is Ariana Grande’s new perfume a subtle nod to her donut scandal? It certainly could look that way. Grande appeared on Good Morning America this morning to promote her new scent “Ari,” and it sounds mouthwateringly delicious, with a hint of fluffy pastry goodness.

If you don’t remember, back in July, Grande was caught on camera saying she “hates America” and licking a donut that was sitting on the counter of Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore, CA. She received a lot of backlash for the stunt, which violated a ton of health and safety rules and was a little tone-deaf to her audience.

She later released an apology:

This little mishap doesn’t mean we’re any less excited for her new perfume, which Grande specifically describes as being “really sweet and yummy!” It smells of marshmallows and raspberries, which would be a great flavor for, you guessed it, a donut.

There’s no confirmation that the scent was actually based on the pastry-licking scandal, but it is fun to think that donuts will always be an influence on the singer’s life. I mean, they’re definitely an influence on mine!
