Ariana Grande brought back our fave ’80s look at her concert

Ariana Grande is the queen of taking classic looks and making them her own. She’s almost as well known for her sense of style and signature high pony as she is for her killer vocals and crazy-catchy hit songs. Whether she’s rocking a one-of-a-kind Harry Potter jacket, slaying a medley of Whitney Houston’s greatest hits, or prepping for her role in Hairspray Live, Ariana is *always* one to watch – both for style inspo and for her amazing performances.

Back in early August, Ariana channeled her inner ‘80s pop diva during her performance of classic Whitney Houston songs on the season finale of ABC’s Greatest Hits. She was chic AF, basically.

Clearly, the “Dangerous Woman” songstress is loving that throwback vibe, because she wore that same classic ‘80s hairstyle once again in a much higher-profile performance just a few days ago.

Performing at the Billboard Hot 100 Festival this past weekend, Ariana showed off another ~adorable~ crimped version of her standard high pony and bangs. Unsurprisingly, Ariana looked amazing, as usual.

Ariana and her team must have loved the way her crimped hair looked during the Whitney Houston medley performance earlier in the month just as much as we did to bring it back so soon after for a *MAJOR* performance like the Hot 100 Festival. I wonder if crimped hair will become a regular staple in the ever-evolving Ariana Grande lookbook?

The “Into You” singer is clearly digging the ‘do – she shared several shots via Instagram, showing off her crimped pony as she got ready for her performance, giving all of us who were crimp-happy middle schoolers in the early aughts MAJOR hair déjà vu.

Ariana’s headlining set on the main stage at Jones Beach is getting rave reviews. She even unexpectedly brought out a special guest, Mac Miller, to rap his part when she performed “The Way,” her first huge hit from way back in 2013.

From her consistently amazing performances to her trendsetting signature looks, it’s no wonder that Grande is on track to be one of the greatest pop icons of our generations.
