Some Ariana Grande fans are boycotting “7 Rings,” but not for the reason you think
Today in “we don’t understand stans” news, Ariana Grande fans are boycotting her single “7 Rings.” Apparently, Arianators have decided that the only way to ensure her latest single “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” hits #1 on music charts like “Thank U, Next” and “7 Rings” is to boycott her previous single and get it out of the top spot. Sure. Maybe we just don’t understand stan culture.
Technically, “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” can’t get into the #1 spot if “7 Rings” is still holding it down on top of the charts, so we guess this plan tracks. Other reasons to boycott “7 Rings” include the video’s appropriation of black and Japanese culture and flat out plagiarism (both Princess Nokia and Soulja Boy have made compelling arguments against the singer), but of course, the stans do not appear to be interested in those charges.
Grande is amused by the #BOYCOTT7RINGS hashtag but seems to also be as ??? by it as we are.

But when someone asked her to boycott her own song, she was like, “r u ok.”

As of now, “7 Rings” is still in the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and her latest single hasn’t even entered the list. The fan army clearly has its work cut out for them.
