Ariana Grande made a badass speech about giving herself the love she “frivolously and easily” gives to men
Each year, Billboard’s Women in Music Awards celebrates artists who inspire the rest of us through their words, music, and messaging, highlighting the fearlessness and talent of our favorite female musicians. This year, Billboard honored Ariana Grande as their Woman of the Year, and Grande in turn gave an inspiring speech about the lessons she’s learned over the last year, as well as how she hopes to give herself the same love and acceptance she’s given to men in her life.
After thanking several important people in her world, Grande used her moment to acknowledge that while 2018 has been filled with career highs, thanks to the release of her fourth album, Sweetener, as well as her first number one single, “Thank U, Next,” she has also faced her fair share of personal hardships alongside the milestones.

“I find it interesting that this has been one of the best years of my career and the worst of my life,” she said. “A lot of people would look at someone in my position right now as an artist that could be at her peak and think, ‘She’s really got her shit together, she’s really on it. She’s got it all.’ And I do, but as far as my personal life goes, I really have no idea what the fuck I’m doing.”

Grande ended her speech with what was perhaps the highlight of the night.
"I look forward to hopefully learning to give some of the love and forgiveness that I've given away so frivolously and easily to men in the past to myself, hopefully, this year," she declared. "I have everything I've ever dreamt of having, and as of late I've discovered that it's the things I've always had and the people I've always had that still make me the happiest."
As if all that wasn’t enough, Grande also revealed info about her next album, which she’s already working on. It’s as “if First Wives Club was an album,” she told the crowd. Um, yes, please.

We think Grande is more than worthy of the Woman of the Year title, and we can’t wait to hear her new music (hopefully very soon).
