Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s “Side to Side” video is here and it’s so, so good
After tearing up the VMAs stage together, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj dropped the official “Side to Side” video on Guess.com and in the spirit of their awards show performance, it’s giving us major fitness feels.
The video opens with Grande totally werking it as a sultry spin instructor who damn near convinces everyone who’s not Richard Simmons that cardio isn’t a thinly veiled form of torture. But everyone knows that’s just the stuff of music videos because there’s no way in hell we’d still look as sexy as Ari after a brutal round of spin class.

Later, Grande takes it from the spin studio to the gym where she slays her choreography in a sports bra and pink boxing trunks with white heels. Just when it seems like the video can’t get any steamier, Minaj enters the scene in a fiery red swimsuit and totally kills it, as usual. Eventually, the video ends with the BFFs-in-music hanging out in a sauna with a bunch of unresponsive albeit oiled up men posing like they’re on the cover of a magazine.
Prior to the VMAs, Grande hinted that her set with Minaj would be “not just a performance,” but “a statement,” and we heard it loud in clear. In addition to helping Republic Records and Guess launch Guess Music, the “Side to Side” visuals let us know we have a LOT of work to do in order to get our sexy spin class attitude on Grande’s level.
