56 new emojis are here, and we’re already plotting our future texts

Apple has a ton of emojis that we know and love, but if you’re anything like us, you know sometimes that the perfect one just isn’t available.

That scenario may change during your next text fest, though, because Apple just unveiled new emojis in their lineup.

Among the rations? A breastfeeding woman, an exploding head (a.k.a. “mind = blown”), a zombie, a bearded guy, a woman with a headscarf, and a freaking T-Rex. FINALLY.

Apple announced the 56 new emojis, and according to The Guardian, these, like all emojis, were created by the Unicode Consortium, the nonprofit organization that actually makes the emojis for public utilization. Then, Apple and Google make sure their phones can support the emojis.

The new emojis will also include a coconut and a sandwich — for the T-Rex to eat instead of people. (How did we not have a sandwich before, guys?)

“More animals and mythical creatures like T-Rex, zebra, zombie, and elf are a fun way to describe situations and new Star-Struck and Exploding Head smiley faces make any message more fun,” read a statement from Apple.

We can’t count on even two hands how many times we’ve been watching The Walking Dead and had nothing to send except a coffin and a nauseated face, so we, for one, are stoked.

So now that we’ve got these cute and applicable new emojis, we can’t help but wonder: What’s next down the pipeline for 2018? According to Emojipedia head and World Emoji Day creator Jeremy Burge, likely something pretty simple — and very highly requested.

"Emojipedia requests show a redhead emoji dominating requests for future additions," Burge told The Guardian. "Redhead is now a candidate for 2018, as well as curly hair and a bald-headed person."

We can hear both Jessica Chastain and Mr. Clean cheering from here.

The newly unveiled emojis will be available starting in the fall, with the release of iOS 11 and likely the iPhone 8 — anyone else counting down the days until September?
