Apple just fixed this major problem with the iPhone

There’s one misfortune that seems to lurk within most corners of the digital world, and it follows us no matter where we go or what we do: short-lived battery life.

When the 6S and 6S Plus were released into the world, iPhone users couldn’t wait to get their hands on this new beacon of technology. After all, who wouldn’t want to be the owner of something that’s new and improved? But alas, sometimes things are too good to be true. Turns out, the new iPhone didn’t improve much in the battery life category.

Seeing as there’s nothing worse than a dead iPhone/lifeline, Apple decided to address this problem by releasing their very own iPhone 6S Smart Battery Case. As for the 6S Plus, its size allows for there to be a bigger internal battery, which means that this model is typically able to last throughout the day and no extra power is needed.

Without the oohing and aahing that’s normally to be expected during an Apple release, the Smart Battery Case appeared in the online Apple Store today. In either black or white, this accessory can be purchased for $99 and its description reads, “Charge your iPhone and battery case simultaneously for increased talk time up to 25 hours, Internet use up to 18 hours on LTE, and even longer audio and video playback [up to 20 hours].” While this is a major improvement, Wired points out that the 1,877 mAh Smart Battery Case doesn’t even compare to the 2,750 mAh Mophie Juice Pack Air.

Then again, the Apple battery case does offer consumers an unmistakably unique design. Aside from its built-in antenna, silicon exterior, and automatic charging feature, the new case also looks as though it has its very own hump. Since the battery pack is attached to the back of the case, Apple seems to have been inspired by the Hunchback of Notre-Dame.

Okay, so many aren’t a fan of the design (and the price). However, it seems that Apple may produce another solution in the future. Since the new MacBook has a layered battery design that adds 35% more battery, this same technology can also (hopefully) be used in future iPhones.
