We are applauding this beautiful woman who dropped out of a pageant to protest body-shaming
After being told to lose weight, a beauty pageant contestant from Iceland stood up for herself and her body by dropping out of the competition.
Officials with the Miss Grand International pageant told Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir, Miss Iceland 2015, that she needed to lose weight by Tuesday’s finale, according to The Iceland Monitor.
Jónsdóttir says the competition told her to “stop eating breakfast, eat just salad for lunch and drink water every evening until the contest.”
Miss Iceland wasn't having it – and we love her for it.
The (totally beautiful, perfectly normal-sized) contestant responded by dropping out of the competition. “If the owner of the contest really wants me to lose weight and doesn’t like me the way I am, then he doesn’t deserve to have me in the top 10,” she told the Monitor.

Jónsdóttir says she is a member of the Icelandic national athletic team and is proud of her healthy, athletic body. You go girl!
