Anthony Bourdain’s opinion of the Unicorn Frappuccino is as scathing as we expected
The superstar culinary expert who says he never eats airline food has the same aversion towards Starbucks’ newest colorful drink. Like basically everyone else on the planet, Anthony Bourdain has strong opinions on the Unicorn Frappuccino, and — shocker — they’re not good.
While plenty people are going absolutely bananas over the rainbow-inspired frap, Bourdain’s take on it wasn’t short on his signature snark. He and Katy Perry had similar reactions to the Unicorn Frappuccino, except Bourdain spat out colorful vernacular instead of the actual drink.
In an interview with Town & Country, the Parts Unknown host went all the way in when asked about the frap.
"Wow, that’s like four things I hate all in one sentence: Starbucks, unicorns, and the colors pink and purple. Also a Frappuccino! It’s the perfect nexus of awfulness. Just add pumpkin spice to that mix, and you can nuke the whole county," he said.
Oof. If that hurt your Starbucks-lovin’ heart, let’s look on the bright side. Despite the debates about whether it passes the taste test, the Unicorn Frappuccino still makes for one hell of an Instagram photo.
And believe it or not, the chef’s scathing words are a lot less harsh than what Bourdain once said said about truffle oil (because when you compare any kind of food to lube, it’s just NOT good).
We’re always happy to see what Starbucks pulls out of the ol’ limited edition drink hat, but we don’t quite know how to handle all the dramz that’s come with the release of their latest concoction.
Maybe we’ll make like a barista and sort out our Unicorn Frappuccino feelings with an emotional rant.
