While 2017 will largely go down in history as the year of Timothée Chalamet, his former classmate Ansel Elgort also had a pretty stellar year. The actor was nominated for his first Golden Globe for his starring role as “Baby” in Edgar Wright’s hit summer action-crime film, Baby Driver, which is up for a few Oscars this Sunday, March 4th.
But while the success of Baby Driver introduced Ansel Elgort to a whole new audience, the actor has been on many of our radars since The Fault in Our Stars and his major supporting role in the Divergent films. Like his LaGuardia High School classmate Chalamet, Elgort is a major rising star in Hollywood, so now more than ever, new fans are likely wondering if he has a special someone to walk the red carpet with.
For those who don’t follow the active Instagrammer on social media and are looking to shoot their shot with the actor, he’s actually in a long-term relationship with his high school sweetheart.
Adorable, right? Elgort has been with ballerina Violetta Komyshan since 2012, when they were both students at LaGuardia, the prestigious performing arts high school. In December, Komyshan opened up to Cosmopolitan about how the two first met, revealing that when they met, she thought Elgort was actually interested in her friend. The ballerina said that she didn’t realize they went to the same school when she first saw him walking down the street, casually mentioning him to her friend.
But it appears she caught his eye as well and the next day, he had their mutual friend make an introduction.
"I thought he liked her! He waited for me [after school] the next day and told our friend to introduce us and I was like, 'OK, he totally liked me yesterday,'" Komyshan told Cosmopolitan. "Then I made her come with us to Starbucks. We exchanged numbers and became friends, and then we started dating when I was at the end of sophomore year."

A budding relationship beginning over Starbucks? Since it’s genuinely how half of millennials found love during high school, even if they weren’t one of the most adorable couples on Earth, we’d still ship it. Despite a brief split in 2014 due to Elgort’s hectic film schedule, the two have been together for about six years and are constantly gushing about each other on the photo platform.
