Watch Natalie Portman try and save Oscar Isaac from mutated aliens in the trailer for “Annihilation”

With long winter months stretching ahead, we *desperately* need something to look forward to. Today, we got it! A new trailer for Annihilation was released, and even though it’s not out until February 2018, we’re already popping the popcorn and getting ready to freak out. Annihilation stars Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, and…alien monsters?

Portman and Isaac play a husband and wife (OMG, YAS) whose lives are endangered by a mysterious creature. Or force. It’s hard to describe, but it’s terrifying and awesome to look at. Essentially, Isaac’s mysterious job puts him in the line of fire of a mutated alien, and Portman teams up with a crew of badass women to investigate.

As they quickly find out, it’s not just one monster or creature or biological hazard. It’s something bigger and more sinister than that, and it’s ready to turn Earth into its new home planet. Also, the circumstances in which it maimed the internet’s boyfriend, Oscar Isaac, are unclear. Spooky!

Did we *mention* the main cast is a bunch of badass women fighting monsters?

Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, and more all suit up and head into the mysterious “shimmer” to get a better handle on what attacked Isaac. It’s like the best parts of Anaconda meets Stranger Things’ The Upside Down, and the total freakout factor of a monster-of-the-week episode of The X-Files.
