Anne Hathaway’s gothic heart dress is the perfect holiday party outfit

Red and green. Marshmallows and mistletoe. Brocade and velvet. These are just a few things that make us think of the holidays. And along with festive season comes the parties. Fortunately, if you’re stuck on what to wear, Anne Hathaway just offered up some serious style inspiration.

We haven’t heard from Anne in a while, but it was just announced that she’ll play a scam artist and star in a comedy with Rebel Wilson next summer. Last night, though, the actress and mom to an uber adorable son, took to the red carpet for an appearance at The Children’s Monologues in NYC. In the past, Anne has been vocal about her support of paid parental leave.

While showing up for a great organization, she gave us the usual demure, classic style we’re used to — but with a twist. Her Dolce & Gabbana dress has a classy feel to it, thanks to the long sleeves and hem, and the equally classic ankle-strap pumps she wore along with the dress.

But it’s the sheer material and gothic heart print that keeps the look from being too blah and matronly.
