Anne Hathaway dances in her latest Insta video while sending you an important reminder about Earth Day

For those who missed it, Earth Day 2018 was Sunday, April 22nd, and actress Anne Hathaway wants to remind us that we can definitely take action to help our planet.

In her latest Insta post from Monday, April 23rd, Hathaway dances cheerfully in a Boomerang while holding out two small but critically important tools for helping the earth: A reusable water bottle and a reusable coffee cup. She then captioned the adorable dance with a heartfelt message:

“So, #EarthDay was fun and beautiful and I didn’t want to bum anyone out, but it’s #dayafterearthday and we’ve normalized trash to a point where it’s scary. I’m committed to always having my #resuablewaterbottle and #coffeecup with me, as well as keeping a bag in my purse for purchases (I usually carry a basket).”

She went on to note,

"I know it seems hard—but if you have a phone and an Instagram acct you check every day then you ALREADY possess the skills to be able to remember your reusables. No one is perfect—don’t waste time beating yourself up (no more emotional garbage either); just try to do better and treat your Mama right. Peace xx"

Hear, hear!

According to ContainerRecycling.org, an organization and website devoted to minimizing needless waste, “more than 60 million plastic bottles end up in landfills and incinerators every day,” and 22 billion end up in those land fills each year. However, as Hathaway reminds us, there’s absolutely something each and everyone of us can do, and it’s relatively simple. Committing to using reusable materials is a slight annoyance that can make a major difference. And once you get used to it, it really stops feeling like such a big deal.

Thank you for the critical reminder, lady.
