Anna Kendrick Brushes Off Hollywood’s Crazy Beauty Standards Like a Boss
Vying to be on the “Most Stylish” or “Most Beautiful” lists is practically a sport in Hollywood. But Anna Kendrick, quite a looker herself, has a really refreshing attitude towards the whole obsessive beauty routines that the star-o-sphere is constantly promoting: Don’t even worry about it.
“The thing is, my appearance—that’s never been my moneymaker,” Kendrick told Glamour. “I’m fine being small. I’m fine being all the things I am. And I’m happy I’m not supposed to be on the ’50 Most Beautiful’ list all the time, because that would be super f—ing stressful.”
“Sometimes I just want to wear the same outfit three days in a row,” Kendrick continued. “And I kind of can’t.”
What’s that? A star who puts her talents before her looks? Don’t you just want to give Kendrick a high five and go out for pizza? (And like, who hasn’t wanted to wear the same good outfit as much as possible?) And it’s not the first time Kendrick’s talked about smarts over being too concerned about stylishness. She said something similar in the July issue of Elle.
“I’ve never felt like I’ve exactly traded on my looks,” Kendrick told Elle. “When I was a teenager, I was an ultra-late bloomer, and my mom would say it was a blessing, because it means you never have to wonder if guys are only interested in you because you’ve got boobs.”
“Similarly, I think I’m lucky that I’ve never had a crisis about whether the only reason I’m successful is because I’m crazy hot,” Kendrick said. “It’s not something that crosses my mind.”
Girl, we just love you.
