Anna Kendrick has the sanest dating advice ever
Dating advice can be hard to take. Every person is different, every budding relationship is unique, and yet, EVERYBODY has an opinion. But sometimes, someone says something that feels awesomely universal, and utterly practical when it comes to romantic interactions. And today that person is Anna Kendrick. (Seriously, can she stop winning us over with her braininess? No. No, she can’t.)
In an interview for the February issue of Fashion magazine, Anna gifted us with some really solid dating advice we’re not going to forget.
“The wrong kind of guy to fall in love with is the guy who will let go of the steering wheel as a joke,” she explained. “A guy who finds it amusing to make you uncomfortable, which is more common that you’d think, is someone you want to avoid.”
Boom. Basically, she’s talking about respect. If someone doesn’t treat you with respect or wants to assert their power over you in creepy ways, it’s just not cool. Point well taken.
As for dating herself, Anna says that she “never really [goes] for the razzle-dazzle types, no quarterbacks, no flashy guys and no Prince Charmings.” So basically Chris Pine’s character, The Prince, from Into the Woods is out. Anna is much more low key, giving all of us completely reasonable expectations on dating for once. And she doesn’t want any pomp and circumstance about her dates AT ALL.
“A [date] once picked me up in a Mustang and he was leaning on the hood of it,” she recalled. “He was waiting for me and I was inside my apartment, looking out the window, thinking ‘Oh, this is going to go terribly.’”
When she’s not avoiding dates with Mustangs, she’s busy playing matchmaker for her fans — really. Two AK fans met in a fan forum, and then started dating. “Two weirdos found each other because they liked what ever weirdo vibes I was giving off! That was so sweet, it almost made me cry,” she gushed, like a proud little Cupid.
This also might mean instead of Tinder, we should get a match-making site set up for fans of Anna. Wouldn’t you feel so much more comfortable going out on a date with someone knowing that they’re already a huge Pitch Perfect fan?
