Anna Faris admits she’s unsure about the “purpose” of marriage after her divorce from Chris Pratt
After walking down the aisle twice, one of our all-time favorite funny ladies, Anna Faris, says she needs to take some time to figure out the purpose of marriage. And we have a feeling so many people can relate.
Faris was married to actor Ben Indra for four years from 2004 to 2008 but eventually left the marriage after realizing she was no longer happy. She then began dating actor Chris Pratt, and the pair married in 2009. After an eight-year marriage, they announced their separation in 2017.
While talking about relationships on Dax Shepard’s new podcast, Armchair Expert, Faris admitted that a third marriage might not be in the cards.
"I need to figure out what the purpose is," she said. "Is it safety for your children? Is it convention? Is it so other people respect your relationship more?"
Faris made sure to say she’s grateful that she’s on good terms with Pratt, as the two co-parent their five-year-old son, Jack.
"We had an unbelievable marriage and we have a great friendship now," Faris said. "And we love our son to death, and I'm really proud of that, because I'm not sure I did that well the first time."
We’re all about how candid Faris is getting about an issue so many people struggle with (even if it’s not always talked about). Marriage can be a beautiful thing, but that definitely doesn’t mean it has to — or should — be for everyone. We wish nothing but happiness for Faris as she navigates her post-marriage life, and we’re thanking her for being so real with us — as always.
