Anna Faris admits she was conflicted about getting a boob job because she’s a “staunch feminist,” and girl, do you
We love Anna Faris because she is an open book. She released a memoir during her divorce from Chris Pratt, she opens her heart regularly on her podcast, she’s never afraid of being vulnerable in an interview, and for that, we adore her. In a new interview with Women’s Health, Faris opened up about plastic surgery and the internal tug-of-war she did before she pulled the trigger and got breast implants.
Faris described how she was torn between wanting to do something for herself (she was 30 and newly divorced), but also not wanting to feel as if she was “caving in to ‘the man.’” She also admitted that she struggled with wanting plastic surgery while being “a staunch feminist.”
Faris got the boob job and her philosophy on the intersection of feminism and plastic surgery has a ~do you and support others on their journey too~ vibe.
"I was always a negative-A cup, so when I was 30, I was getting a divorce [she was married to Ben Indra for four years], I had just finished House Bunny, and I'd sold another movie, all of these new things were happening to me, so I got my breasts done," she told Women's Health. "It was f-cking awesome. I never, ever thought I'd do something like that. I always thought plastic surgery was caving in to 'the man,' you know? But it came down to a really simple thing: I wanted to fill out a bikini. What would that feel like?"
“I’m still floored that I did it because I am a staunch feminist,” she continued. “I kept thinking, Am I betraying my own gender by doing this? I wish that we were more supportive of each other. I think that people should be able to do whatever they want, whether it’s getting braces, bleaching their hair, getting extensions, getting a boob job, getting vaginal surgery, or getting a nose job.”
At the end of the day, we think “do you” is the perfect motto here.
