Anne Hathaway celebrated the 15th anniversary of “The Princess Diaries” in the most perfect way possible

There are many movies that we hold near and dear to our hearts, but The Princess Diaries might top the list. Anne Hathaway as Mia Thermopolis was just so relatable as a character (that frizzy hair? That uniform? The awkwardness? We feel you, girl!)

Adolescence, in a nutshell.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already the 15th anniversary of the film, but clearly celebrations are in order!

Hathaway posted a special tribute to The Princess Diaries on Instagram, with an amazing GIF of Mia dancing

It’s also quite an emotional tribute, as the movie’s director, Garry Marshall, sadly died last month at the age of 81.

“And to Garry Marshall, thank you for making me a princess. I love you always my beloved friend and teacher, and I miss you every day xx.”

Marshall’s career spanned 50 years and many well-known films, such as Pretty WomanRunaway Bride,  and The Other Sister. But The Princess Diaries was undeniably extra-special for its totally-relatable charm. And also: Julie Andrews is perfection.

There aren’t many films with the rewatch value of this one, not to mention the fact that it shaped our childhood in a big way.
