Andy Samberg, Chelsea Peretti, and so many Brooklyn Nine-Niners are defending Terry Crews from ignorant trolls

On June 26th, Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Terry Crews stood before Congress to speak on behalf of the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill Of Rights. In doing so, he bravely spoke about his own experiences with assault, and how a culture of toxic masculinity prevented him from coming forward sooner.

“This is how toxic masculinity permeates culture,” he told the Congressional committee. “As I shared my story, I was told over and over that this was not abuse. This was just a joke. This was just horseplay.”

He continued, "But I can say one man’s horseplay is another man’s humiliation. And I chose to tell my story and share my experience to stand in solidarity with millions of other survivors around the world. That I know how hard it is to come forward, I know the shame associated with the assault. It happened to me."

Unfortunately, shortly after his brave testimony, Crews was forced to defend himself from ignorant trolls who mocked his experience (some of whom even wondered why a man of his size just didn’t “fight back” at the time).

Thankfully, many came to Crews’ defense, including Brooklyn Nine-Nine costar Andy Samberg. During a recent interview with the Associated Press to promote his new film, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, Samberg discussed just how proud he is of Crews.

“We have a cast text chain and we were all texting him how incredible it [his testimony] was, Samberg said. “He’s a miracle. Terry’s the best guy. I am proud to know him.
