A vegetarian fast food restaurant? Yes, please!
Amy’s Kitchen, the organic, non-GMO frozen foods company (AKA where the best-ever frozen burritos and mac and cheese come from) has branched out and opened their very first vegetarian fast food restaurant — and it even has a drive-thru! Their doors opened yesterday in San Francisco, and everything is awesome.
And their mission, according to the website: “Amy’s Drive Thru is returning to the roots of American fast food, serving lovingly handcrafted food to nourish hard-working citizens, busy families and road-weary travellers.” We definitely like the sound of that.
Amy’s serves typical fast food items, except everything is vegetarian and made with organic and non-GMO ingredients. Bonus: there are also gluten-free and vegan options for every item.
The options include veggie burgers with a secret sauce (we’ve never met a secret sauce we didn’t like), lettuce wrapped veggie burgers, burritos, burrito bowls, chili, different type of mac and cheese (similar to the frozen kind, but made from scratch), pizzas and various salads, along with fries and shakes (dairy and non dairy). All the vegetables are from local farms, and every food item offered is within the $2 to $8 range. And you guys, the burger buns are made fresh daily, completely from scratch!

Amy’s building is partly powered by solar energy and has a living roof, which helps to reduce the energy used by the building. The restaurant also has a water tower that collects rain, which will be used to water the roof.
We have no doubt that Amy’s Drive-Thru will do well, we just hope they start expanding soon so all of us can enjoy delicious organic food on the go (or on the stay).
