Amy Schumer’s hilarious joke on Instagram is also a total love letter to body positivity

Amy Schumer is a star, and she’s shining more brightly than ever. The actress has been raking in the awards, including a Peabody Award, Critics’ Choice Television Award and an Emmy Award. Well, now you can add one more accolade to the list: Best Body!

Amy shared a hilarious pic on Instagram, capturing the moment she accepted the award for Best Body. She’s shocked and delighted, and adds a cherry on top with the caption, “There are so many foods I want to thank.”

Of course, the comedian is no stranger to poking fun at her weight. Body image is a big topic for her online, in the media, in speeches, in her standup and on her show, Inside Amy Schumer. Though she jokes about it, it’s also very clear that she’s happy and confident just the way she is.

“It’s very therapeutic for me to be like, ‘Yes, I’m not going to look like a malnourished bird,’ and I like speaking to that, as well as speaking to my work and what I’m doing,” Amy said during a Trainwreck press conference.

Yes, girl. Three cheers to accepting and being comfortable in your own body!

“I’m not going to apologize for who I am, and I’m going to actually love the skin that I’m in,” Amy continued. “And I’m not going to be striving for some other version of myself.”

I can’t help but wonder… why is a store selling a “Best Body” trophy in the first place? (And why do they keep button-down T-shirts in the sporting goods aisle?) Is “Best Body” still really a category in fake award shows? It’s a harmless trophy, but still. We kind of wish they’d stick with classics like “Class Clown.”
