Amy Schumer photobombed Kim and Kanye in the best possible way
Amy Schumer, champion of comedy, the Internet, and our hearts, pulled a hilarious prank on Kim and Kanye West at TIME‘s “Most Influential People” red-carpet event last night. And everyone is still giggling! Probably because the reason behind Schumer’s shenanigans are so playful and so very I’m-Amy-Schumer-I-do-what-I-want.
Schumer told People, “I saw them, and I asked my publicist, ‘Can I dive in front of them and act like I fell?’ And she said, ‘I can’t stop you,’” So she just dove into the floor, making it seem like she totally ate it. The power couple, who were being honored at the event, were not totally sure what to do with the fallen Amy.
While Kim and Kanye were trying to shrug off Amy’s stunt, Laverne Cox was ALL about the joke, yelling, “Yas, Amy, YASSSSSS!” Whether this was an ode to the iconic episode of Sex in the City where Carrie Bradshaw gloriously trips as she struts down the catwalk is totally up for debate.
Later on, Schumer explained herself to Kim and Kanye, and apparently they were totally cool with it. Schumer told People, “I talked to them. They were like, ‘What?’ Kim was worried for me, and I think Kanye was just, like, scared that I was doing something.” And to be honest, he had every right to be — Amy is one goofy gal who’s pretty much always up to something. Schumer added, “They were really sweet. Kim was really funny. She goes, ‘Oh my god, I was like, does this girl need help?’ She was like, ‘That was really funny.’”
