Queen Amy Schumer is nominated for TWO Grammy Awards because she CAN do it all

Amy Schumer is straight up collecting trophies at this point. The comedian, actress, writer, fantasy dream bff has been nominated for two Grammy Awards (aka “the music one” if you are like us and don’t always know which award ceremony is which. It’s okay.) for the audiobook reading of her book The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo. Amy is joined by fellow funny lady Carol Burnett (the first Amy Schumer, if you will) and the great Patti Smith in the Best Spoken Word Album category, while also running up in the female-dominated Best Comedy Album category.

If Ms. Schumer wins one of her two possible Grammys, she’s on her way into EGOT territory; that’s Emmy (TV, which she’s got for Inside Amy Schumer), Grammy (now’s her chance!), Oscar (it’s feasible one day… Trainwreck did win a Critic’s Choice Award and a Golden Globes nom, plus she’s playing Barbie in an upcoming film and we’d die to see it Oscar nominated) and Tony Award (put Amy on Broadway, pretty please. Better yet, make her Hamilton). The group is small of those who’ve EGOT’d (what’s up, Whoopi Goldberg!) but if Amy keeps up the good stuff, we don’t see why she couldn’t grace the list.

The Grammys ceremony is going to be insane this year, what with Beyonce leading with a whopping nine noms for Lemonade; and Drake, Rihanna and Kanye West tied with eight. While we’ll certainly be rooting for our favorite songs of the year (as well as a weird Kanye acceptance speech, most likely), there’s going to be a special tension in the room for most of us when Amy Schumer’s name is read aloud as a nominee. Schumer represents so many of us, the ladies who have been told “no” countless times but continue to work hard and achieve the things we strive for. As Amy confidently reads off in her audiobook:

“I know my worth. I embrace my power. I say if I’m beautiful, I say if I’m strong. You will not determine my story. I will.”
