Amy Schumer says love in your 20s is like a tsunami, here’s why
Body positivity, gender roles, gun control laws — Amy has some seriously rad wisdom about it all. And now, in the HBO special Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo, it’s clear that she knows what she’s talking about when it comes to the dating world, too.
Although the special airs tomorrow (!!!), HBO has released a minute-long sneak peek of the comedian and host of Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer doing her thing on stage. Amy spends that minute lightheartedly mocking young love and the “arrogant” nature of it, pointing out a major flaw with dating in your 20s — that flaw being, of course, that it’s pretty much a GIANT TSUNAMI.
“In your 20s, you’re so corrupt with power, especially if you’re in love in your 20s. Remember 20s love? You’re just so arrogant. You’re like, ‘We’re so lucky we found each other. What are all these sad songs about? [Laughs.]’ I think of 20s love as the same as the tsunami. . . ”
And, TBH, the metaphor is pretty darn airtight. We’ll let you watch the clip for yourself. Tune in to see our beloved Amy rocking the stage in the full special tomorrow at 10 p.m. on HBO! But if you miss it, don’t worry — it will be re-airing soon and will be available on HBO Go and HBO Now.
