Amy Schumer clapped back to her mommy-shamers with the perfect post-pregnancy pic
Amy Schumer’s pregnancy was no walk in the park: she dealt with hyperemesis gravidarum, a prenatal condition that causes extreme nausea and vomiting. So we can totally understand her desire for things to get back to normal after the birth of Baby Gene. When she returned to work on Monday, May 20th just two weeks after giving birth, Schumer was mommy-shamed for not adhering to standard maternity leave rules. But she was not about to let the trolls get to her, and she clapped back in the most Amy Schumer-way possible: by posting a hilarious picture of herself.
“Sending out love to the moms shaming me for doing standup last night!” Schumer captioned a May 21st Instagram post. Some people may look at the photo and see a tired new mom who just gave birth. But we see a comedian who has a wonderful time making people laugh.

Listen, not all new mothers are the same.
Some can get up on stage days after giving birth and perform a comedy act, while others need at least six weeks on the couch. There’s no need for comparison—we’re all just doing the best we can. The mommy-shamers thankfully backed off from this post, leaving celebs like Judd Apatow to comment “Rock on!” and Demi Lovato to write, “You’re a rock star!” We couldn’t agree more.
It’s clear that Schumer’s post-pregnancy posts are going to be real, and we should be thankful that she’s showing us the unfiltered truths of having a newborn baby.
Let’s keep the “Strong enough to bear the children, then get back to business!” feedback coming. Amy is just one of the many superwomen inhabiting this planet. You do you, momma. We’ll be here applauding you the entire time.
