Amy Poehler’s Life Will Soon Be in Your Hands
Oh, Amy Poehler. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I’m not actually going to count the ways, but I think we can all come up with at least one way we love her. I will tell you though, that I first fell in love with Amy when she had a small character arc on Arrested Development, where she played a certified seal salesperson and quickie wedding-wife to her now (real life) ex-husband (TEARS), Will Arnett. MORE TEARS.
So obviously, her time on the show is something I hope she writes about in her MEMOIR, which is currently untitled and set to be released next year. Her publisher, It Books (an imprint of HarperCollins), had this to say about what we can expect:
If there’s one thing I love more than funny lady memoirs, it’s funny lady memoirs with ILLUSTRATIONS! Has anyone ever done that before? I can’t wait.
I kind of feel like I’m getting let in on some super special sleepover secrets when I read the memoirs of women like Tina Fey and Mindy Kaling. There’s a chance that it’s because I put on PJs, make some snacks, pour a glass of wine and giggle incessantly while I’m reading, but also because it’s just so incredibly inspiring to see how they got to where they are, in their own words. It’s like having my own little pocket mentor.
Oh god, you know what I just remembered? Her Christian Siriano skit on SNL. “Stephanie. I need to tell you something. You are a tranny who looks like a hot mess and not in a good way. You’re a tickety-tack, tranny hot mess, out of control, super-tranny from Transylvania … Who is not apologizing for it.”
GOLD. That woman makes gold with her words.
