Amy Poehler is making a Netflix movie with literally all her best friends, and this is a dream come true
There’s nothing Saturday Night Live fans love more than seeing our favorite alumni reunite on-screen, and thanks to Amy Poehler’s feature film directorial debut, we’re about to see an SNL reunion out of our 2000s dreams.
The Parks and Recreation star is set to direct, produce, and star in Wine Country, which follows a group of friends during a 50th birthday weekend in Napa. Art is one hundred percent imitating life because she’s recruited her real-life SNL BFFs to star in the film. That’s right, joining Poehler in Wine Country are Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, former SNL writer and Wine Country co-writer Emily Spivey, Paula Pell, Ana Gasteyer, and Tina Fey. The film was also co-written by SNL alum Liz Cackowski.
This major reunion comes just a few years after Poehler, Fey, Dratch, Rudolph, and Pell appeared in Sisters, which was written by Pell. And since Sisters, we’ve been patiently awaiting the ladies of SNL to team up for another movie — and the premise couldn’t be more amazing.
Netflix announced the film and its hilarious cast with a video — shot by Poehler, further demonstrating her cinematic genius — of the ladies singing along to Kenny Loggins’ “Whenever I Call You Friend.”

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but we seriously don’t know how long we can wait for this to hit our Netflix queues. Give us content featuring the women of SNL and a bottle of wine and we’ll be the happiest people in existence. Step aside guys of ’90s SNL — Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, and David Spade — because Netflix needs to give these ladies a dozen movies.
Filming on Wine Country is reportedly set to begin sometime at the end of the month. Netflix hasn’t announced any plans for release just yet. Sooner than later, hopefully.
