Amy Poehler popping off at Seth Meyers is the best way to start the 2018 Golden Globes
Seth Meyers kicked off the 2018 Golden Globes with an opening monologue that did not hold back when it comes to the current state of Hollywood. But since it’s not really appropriate right now for a straight white man to hog the spotlight, he turned the microphone over to some of the ladies sitting in the audience. Using one of the sketches from his own late night show, “Jokes Seth Can’t Tell,” he called on the likes of Jessica Chastain and Issa Rae to fill in some punchlines for him. And then Seth Meyers sent the microphone over to Amy Poehler and SHE did not hold back.
It’s tough to be a lady in Hollywood right now, and Seth, Amy is about to give you a piece of her mind.
When the microphone made its way over to Poehler, she immediately shot back (jokingly, of course) that she knows how to set up a joke, and she doesn’t need the help of a man to tell a joke. When Meyers tried to backtrack (also, still jokingly), Poehler really laid into him:
“I’m glad to know that you think. And secondly I’m a woman in Hollywood, Seth. We’ve all been through a lot. I don’t need a set up to make a punchline work,” she shouted back at the host, while also reaching down for her wine. “I’m reclaiming my wine. okay, EVERYBODY GETS IT. STOP EXPLAINING IT.”
I love you forever, Amy Poehler. #goldenglobes pic.twitter.com/kkgXxyK2vl

As for her joke that doesn’t need a set-up to be funny,
"Said the peach in Call Me by Your Name, this scene is the pits."
