Whedonverse fave Amy Acker is starring in one of Marvel’s upcoming TV shows

Amy Acker, like another famous Amy A. in Hollywood, does the damn work. You might know her from her roles in Person of Interest and Joss Whedon’s Angel, but Acker’s biggest TV moment is coming up.

Marvel is expanding their TV presence, and next on their list? A starring role for Acker in an as-yet-untitled Fox drama.

The casting is a pretty great, because Acker has chameleonic chops. I always think of her in relation to the Whedonverse. She’s played supporting roles in AngelDollhouse, and The Cabin in the Woods. (Her role[s] in Dollhouse in particular is fantastic.)

And, while she never made appearances in Whedon’s The Avengers films, she actually did have a role in a different Marvel property. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hosted her back in 2013, but it’s high time she made her own Marvel TV mark. And, she’s rightly pumped about the opportunity:

So, as for the show and role itself? Acker stars opposite Stephen Moyer (“Suh-keh“) as Kate and Reed Stewart, respectively. Though most of the nitty gritty details aren’t out, it reportedly centers the Stewarts are the human parents to mutants. At least one mutant is already cast: Polaris, with Bunheads actress Emma Dumont in the role.

Marvel already introduced TV X-Men through FX’s Legion. But, we can’t wait to see another take on the expansive Marvel universe.
