We know exactly why this 12-year-old girl on “America’s Got Talent” is being called the next Taylor Swift

When 12-year-old Grace VanderWaal got on the stage in front of the America’s Got Talent judges on last night’s episode and told them she was going to perform an original, they were impressed, but skeptical. After all, performing a brand new song *you* wrote is a huge risk to take when you’re auditioning for a talent show. However, Grace stunned not only the judges, but the entire audience when she belted a gorgeous song about her deepest desire — for the world to know her name.

Before her audition, a nervous-yet-excited Grace told Simon Cowell that she could “possibly” win because “miracles can happen.” And then, she proceeded to show them what a miracle she really is.

“Your original of people not knowing your name is so right and so wrong, because I think the world is gonna know your name,” Howie Mandel told Grace before pressing his golden buzzer, sending her straight to the live rounds.

Grace burst into ecstatic tears as her family ran to her, the golden confetti surrounding them. And as if this moment couldn’t get any better, Simon gave Grace the ultimate seal of approval — he called her the “next Taylor Swift.”

And beyond the fact that Grace and T.Swift have got the same hairstyle, we totally agree. That talent for not only singing, but song-writing and playing an instrument? Considering Taylor signed a record deal at age 14, we have a feeling Grace is on her way to shoot up to 1989-like stardom.

Grace isn’t the only soon-to-be tween star to grace the America’s Got Talent stage this season. Just last week, 13-year-old opera singer Laura Bretan of Chicago, Illinois also got the golden buzzer after she sang a moving rendition of “Nessun Dorma.” Looks like girls are rockin’ the world!
