The TV network behind “American Idol” has another singing competition in the works
Put on your judge hat, everybody! There’s a new singing competition show in the works at Fox — you know, the network that brought us American Idol — and it has as very cool twist.
Variety reported that Fox will be shaking up the singing show formula by picking four finalists in the the very first episode. THEN, new competitors show up throughout the show to challenge those finalists for their spots. We’ll find out the winner in the very last episode.
Considering that Fox is the same network that gifted us the glory that was American Idol, we definitely have high hopes for this one.
It should be noted that a series order hasn’t been set in stone, but fingers crossed it will be locked in soon!
And if just one singing show isn’t enough for your television roster, there’s a lot more to look forward to.
The news about Fox’s potential new show comes after the announcement that American Idol is heading back to the small screen. Idol wrapped in 2016 after 15 seasons, and it’ll air on ABC upon its return. Katy Perry (!!) is taking a seat on the judging panel, and Ryan Seacrest might possibly return as host. That would officially make him the busiest person working in television today, right?!
Oh, and not to be outdone, The Voice is also coming back with a star-studded panel, which includes Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson. Here’s a sneak peak of Hudson singing from the judge’s table, and let’s just take a minute to BOW to her amazingness.

Our lack of stellar singing chops aside, we would love to be taken under all of these diva’s wings ANY day of the week. In the meantime, we’ll just celebrate all the singing competition shows ahead!
