Our first look at Lena Dunham on “American Horror Story” is here, and that is one intense wig

We’re finally past the halfway point of American Horror Story: Cult, even though it seems like the season has only just gotten started (or maybe it’s dragging on, your choice). With only five episodes left of the anthology series, it appears as if the tension has been turned up to 11, and the stakes are only getting higher for our Cult.

But the latest episode is going to diverge from them for a bit (which, you know what, is fine for right now) because we’re about to take a trip to the past. Episode 7, “Valerie Solanas Died for Your Sins: Scumbag” is going to show us a different side of the cult, because we’re going to see a completely different cult. We’re also going to see Lena Dunham in a pretty intense wig.

As showrunner Ryan Murphy revealed, Dunham is stopping by for a guest role in the series, where she’ll play Valerie Solanas. Don’t know the name off the top of your head? You probably should. As Murphy told a crowd of reporters at an AHS press event:

“Lena is playing Valerie Solanas, who attempted to shoot Andy Warhol, because she felt denied the cult of personality that was Warhol and the Factory at the time, Murphy explained. “The episode [is] called ‘Valerie Solanas Died For Your Sins, Scum Bag.’ That episode is about female rage then and in the country now."

The trailer for next week’s episode gives us a quick glimpse at Dunham as Solanas. What we don’t see in the preview is Evan Peters, who’s going to suit up as Warhol in one spot-on transformation.

Dunham isn’t the only new face in the episode — or better yet, we’re seeing a familiar face for the first time. Frances Conroy is set appear in the episode as…someone who has already assassinated someone. You keep doing you, AHS.
