We finally know who our ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ characters are

When the cast of American Horror Story: Hotel dropped by Comic-Con this past year with series creator, Ryan Murphy, they didn’t yet know the characters they’d be playing. All they really knew is if they were good, or bad — or since this is AHS, somewhere in between. Well, now during FX’s Television Critics Association panel, we didn’t just learn a little bit about all the characters. We learned A LOT about the characters. Seriously, is it time to check into this yet?

This upcoming season will focus on a hotel in Downtown Los Angeles that’s full of strange (and frightening) things. The owner of this hotel? Lady Gaga herself. Murphy revealed to Entertainment Weekly that she’ll be play a woman by the name of Elizabeth who, “has a nefarious plan that is revealed in the first episode and plays out over the course of the season.”

Even though Elizabeth owns the hotel, she’s not the one who runs it. That falls on the shoulders of Kathy Bates’ character, Iris. Iris hates Sarah Paulson’s Sally, who plays a drug addict living at the hotel.

Then there’s on-screen husband and wife, Wes Bentley and Chloë Sevigny who play Detective John Lowell and Doctor Alex Lowell. These two have just experienced a “great loss” in their family, and Bentley is “investigating some grisly murders, which somehow leads [him] to checking into the hotel.”

BUT WAIT, there’s more. Angela Bassett playsRamona Royale, who is good friends with Gaga’s Elizabeth, and Matt Bomer’s Donovan, who is “closely associated” with both of these woman, and as Bomer explained to the crowd, his character has, “interesting relationships with the lady folk in his life.”

Lastly, but certainly not least, there’s also Cheyenne Jackson who will play Will Drake — who just made the move from NYC to LA — and Denis O’Hare, who’s playing someone inspired by Elizabeth Taylor and works in the hotel bar. Sounds good to us.

Know who’s missing from this long list of AHS: Hotel characters? Max Greenfield. Here’s in this hotel somewhere, too! Murphy told TVLine that Greenfield will play, “an addict who checks into the hotel and tangles with Sarah Paulson.” Not only that, but Greenfield finds himself in the middle of “the most disturbing scene we’ve ever done [on the show].” Um, yikes.

Greenfield also went through a total transformation for the role, and dyed his hair blonde. BLONDE! I don’t know how Schmidt’s gonna feel about this…

Thankfully, we don’t have to wait too much longer for AHS: Hotel on our TVs. It’s finally got a premiere date: October 7th. Our bags are already packed for this 13-episode stay.
