American Horror Story just dropped three more throwback 1984 teasers, and we’re hiding under the covers
Update, August 13th, 11:15 a.m. EDT: Three more American Horror Story: 1984 teaser trailers have been released, and they’re really taking us back to the horror movies that scared us at grade school sleepovers. The teasers, much like the original trailer, are channeling not just 1980s scary movie vibes, like Friday the 13th, but other classics like Halloween and Psycho, too.
Just look at the first teaser, dubbed “Laundry.” Tell us you don’t see the Psycho shower curtain moment in the hanging laundry freeze frame.
Plus, as one person on Twitter pointed out, laundry as an image has a specific horror movie history.

Speaking of Halloween, the next teaser, titled “Swing” has some breathiness that feels very Michael Myers.

And the last new trailer, “Moving In,” feels so Friday the 13th in all its glory, even in the fashion moments.

We hope you’re not over the ’80s nostalgia Hollywood has been tapping into for the past few years. The first teaser trailer for American Horror Story: 1984 was released on July 29th, and it has ’80s slasher flick written all over it. We’re talking masked killer, innocent 1980s teens, and an isolated summer camp in the middle of nowhere. This season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series screams Friday the 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. (Pun intended, of course.)
In the teaser, none of the named cast members make an appearance—namely Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gus Kenworthy, Angelica Ross, Cody Fern, Leslie Grossman, Matthew Morrison, John Carroll Lynch, DeRon Horton, and Zach Villa. We can only take this to mean that those poor nameless souls pictured in the teaser trailer met their end before they got their beginnings.
Tragic.

Upon the teaser’s release, Twitter got to work to analyze the upcoming season, which will premiere on FX on September 18th.
Although the nostalgic ’80s horror movie theme seems like a divergence from seasons past, many are excited to see what the team does with the genre.
However, others are kind of done with the slasher-flick vibe, saying it’s fairly predictable and that we’ve seen this thing plot out numerous times before.
And where are all the cool visual effects that were so prevalent in previous seasons?
Others think that, just maybe, the new season should be called Wet Hot American Horror Story, and LOL.
TBH, most of us are still torn up about the fact that Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and possibly Jessica Lange will not be making appearances in this upcoming season. That’s just not right.
We understand that this is simply a teaser trailer, and the actual season will be different. But we feel as though our excitement is not currently at the peak it should be after watching an American Horror Story teaser. Still, when we saw the cast announcement photos and videos with everyone in their ’80s best, we were totally on board.

Despite the initial lackluster response to the trailer, we have hope that this upcoming season will be one of the best AHS seasons yet. Our fingers are crossed.
