“America the Beautiful” got a feminist reboot at last night’s Super Bowl

While this past weekend was all about the Super Bowl, it wasn’t all about the actual football. It was also majorly about music. And Lady Gaga’s performance wasn’t the only epic musical number. Hello, Hamilton ladies!

Yup, performers included several original members of Hamilton, who sang America the Beautiful before kickoff.

We’re talking about the insanely talented Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jasmine Cephas Jones and Phillipa Soo, who were all in top form and looking absolutely radiant. And their performance was all about sisters supporting each other, literally. They added the words “and sisterhood” to the traditional, “And crown thy good with brotherhood / From sea to shining sea!” SO. MUCH. YES! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IBIn__jnhc

We are officially obsessed with this, and also cannot believe it took this long for a performer to implement this small, but hugely significant tweak.

By the looks of things, the ladies were super thrilled to be reunited for the Super Bowl. It all started in a go kart, because of course it did.

Now, did anyone else notice their classy jumpsuits? Damn, girls!

We’re receiving so many bursts of inspo on this Monday morning. Also, we’re kind of dying to see Hamilton more than ever (maybe some day…).

Give it up for these three women. Now, who can we talk to about making their rendition the official lyrics? Because that needs to happen.
