America Ferrera posted an amazing throwback photo to follow up her DNC speech

ICYMI, America Ferrera and Lena Dunham killed it this past week when speaking at the Democratic National Convention (DNC). They were funny, truthful, and reminded and inspired us not to live in fear.

“Hillary has spent the last 30 years proving what she sees in us — not color, gender, economic status, but our capacity to grow into thriving adults capable of contributing great things to this country,” Ferrera said in her speech.

And, apparently, Ferrera knew from a young age that girls could grow up to be “Ghostbusters and Presidents.”

Awww.

But, as we all know, life gets tough.

And we may not always be confident.

But, as Ferrera’s Instagram photo above reminded us, female (or male): We. Can. Do. Anything.

In her DNC speech, Ferrera said:

“I am the proud child of Honduran immigrants. I am profoundly grateful for the access and opportunity that exists in this extraordinary nation. I was educated in public schools, my talents were nurtured through public arts programs, and you know what? Occasionally I needed a free meal to get through the school day.”

It’s so amazing that America Ferrera held onto those hardcore feminist beliefs, even with the world telling her different and difficult struggles to overcome. Thanks for sharing, America, we hope the US is on it’s way to becoming what you’ve always known it could.
