America Ferrera’s poppy dress is a reminder that we aren’t in Kansas anymore

Just this week, we were all heart-eyed over America Ferrera’s latest floral fantasy. The actress and humanitarian looked stunning in the garden party dress of the season, but now we think she may have outdone herself with her most recent look. No stranger to statement-making styles, America wore a black and red poppy print Kate Spade dress, and seamlessly reminded us that we’re not in Kansas anymore.

No, we’re where dreams come true, where florals bloom and where anything is possible; this is America, and she does what she wants. Yes, that includes wearing her best garden goth looks.

If there’s one thing America Ferrera knows how to work, it’s a high-neck dress.

Instead of looking stuffy or overtly conservative, she makes them look glamorous and fresh. This piece features fluttering sleeves, an empire waist, and a full skirt, and it’s leaving us blooming with inspiration.

With bright hints of orange and scarlet, the poppies on this frock quite literally pop. Is this the perfect “stroll in the park” dress?

If there’s any invitation to match your accessories to your dress, it’s when you have pops of color on a black background. We love that America wore geometric sandals and a clutch in the same shade as the accents on her ensemble. While she kept her makeup look light and lipstick free, you could just as easily pair this with a matching burnt orange or scarlet lip.

Honestly, we’re not shocked by this contrast-y look because let’s be real: What can’t America do?
