Why Amber Portwood is leaving “Teen Mom OG”
Longtime fans of the MTV show Teen Mom OG, were shocked last night, when in a series of tweets, cast member Amber Portwood, announced that she was leaving the series. The longtime cast member tweeted that she felt she was being treated unfairly on the show and decided she no longer wanted to be a part of it.
Portwood felt disrespected after the most recent Teen Mom reunion special, where she fought with castmate Farrah Abraham. Portwood believed that MTV edited the footage to portray her in a negative light and didn’t air the footage showing Abraham’s father yelling at her.
She Instagrammed the initial announcement:
She told host Drew Pinsky during the reunion special:
"We used to be [friends] and then she decided to open up her crooked lips. She decided to do an interview saying something about how it's good that [my daughter] Leah is with Gary [Shirley] and how my house probably smells like piss. You don't do that."
Portwood said that she’s continued to be disrespected since the reunion aired, tweeting, “If I was treated fairly it wouldn’t be an issue but it’s been nothing but disrespect since the reunion show. Nothing has been dealt with or has made me feel any safer to even move on with people who have continuously hidden things from the network.”
Portwood said that she return to the series once she’s shown some respect.
The day I'm shown some respect by the people I've worked with for 8 years is the day I'll be back. I've sacrificed a lot for this show. @MTV

Portwood isn’t the only cast member feeling slighted by MTV. During the reunion, Portwood and castmates Maci Bookout and Catelynn Lowell staged a walkout due to their belief that Abraham gets preferential treatment from the network.
While MTV has yet to comment, we hope the network and Portwood can come to an agreement and she can return to the show! We wish her all the best!
