Amber Heard and Elon Musk just released an official co-statement about their split
Most celebrity couple junkies like ourselves have heard that actress Amber Heard and tech billionaire Elon Musk called it quits earlier this summer. And now, Heard and Musk have released a statement to People.com clarifying the many rumors swirling about their breakup (this is fresh on the heels of a brief message Heard posted about their breakup on Instagram earlier this week.)
In a joint statement, the pair told the site,
“Having read recent articles about our relationship, we would like to speak for ourselves. The distance has been really tough on our relationship, because we haven’t been able to see each other much. All relationships have their ups and downs, of course."
They went on to say, “[…] we would like to state directly that we have the utmost respect for one another, and it would be troubling if anyone had the impression that we thought otherwise.”
They concluded their statement with,
"As a closing note, it is worth bearing in mind that events are always amplified and dramatized in a high profile relationship, whether the people involved like it or not (and we definitely don’t). The reality is that this is just a normal relationship with a giant magnifying glass applied.
While we’re genuinely sad that the pair — or anyone — has to explain themselves publicly when it comes to extremely personal parts of their lives, we also completely respect their desire to quell baseless rumors and unnecessary drama. Additionally, it’s nice to hear an honest take on what dating in the spotlight is like (i.e. just as hard as dating in real life, but then literally put under a “giant magnifying glass.”).
We’re glad that both Heard and Musk seem to be doing okay and are handling the breakup in such a mature way. Now hopefully this will put all the unfounded and unfair speculation to rest.
