Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s divorce is final, and she is ready to move on

Amber Heard has had a tough few months. She filed for divorce from Johnny Depp on May 23rd, 2016. Heard had been married to Depp for a little over a year (and had been in a relationship with Depp since 2012). Then, days later, Heard filed for a temporary restraining order from Depp. Heard cited Depp’s verbal and physical abuse as the reason for the order. In the wake of this court declaration, we’ve seen everyone from Depp’s lawyers to his well-known friends attempt to discredit her. It’s upsetting to watch a woman stand up as a survivor of abuse only to be doubted at every turn.

We’re glad to hear that, as of today, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s divorce is final, and Heard can finally put these tough several months behind her.

As the Hollywood Reporter tells us, a judge has finally finalized Heard and Depp’s divorce. The judgement is pretty faithful to the settlement Heard and Depp agreed to in August. The settlement awards Heard $7 million. Heard has previously promised to donate all proceeds from the divorce to the American Civil Liberties Union and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. It’s incredibly inspiring to see Heard choose the most generous way to exit this painful time in her life.

What Amber will be keeping are the animals in the couples’ lives. Specifically their two dogs Pistol and Boo, and a horse, Arrow. To which we say, “Amber Heard, you’ve been through enough, we hope the love of these animals is comforting now.”

The judgement divides assets like property and cars between the two actors. Neither party will receive spousal support. And there’s a confidentially provision in the agreement. This means neither actor will be going to the press or social media to talk about their relationship anytime soon. And by anytime soon, we mean, you know, ever.

It sounds like Heard will be just fine re: not having to talk about this split anymore.

"My client would be very happy to move on with her life," Heard's lawyer Pierce O'Donnell said with regards to the divorce being finalized.

We’re so glad Amber Heard gets to turn the page and move on to the next chapter in her life. We wish her the absolute very, very best.
